Only active SSL certificate can be re-issued. The most typical reasons for certificate re-issuance are as following:

• You lost your private key or want to re-key your certificate
• You moved your site to another server
• You want to change host name on certificate*
• You want to change the organization name listed in the certificate

*This is applicable only for Comodo Certificates as it is not possible to re-issue Geotrust certificate for another common name. Re-issuance will allow you to change common name of Comodo certificate from www.yourdomain.com to secure.yourdomain.com – only subdomain can be changed, not domain. Change of common name from www.yourdomain.com to www.anotherdomain.com or secure.anotherdomain.com is not allowed.
